Michigan LCOC Event: Downriver Cruise

27 June 2009
An open event not officially hosted by the Michigan LCOC, the Downriver Cruise is going to be held on Saturday, June 27, 2009. The owners of Southgate Lincoln-Mercury have graciously offered Lincoln-owners and others to the use of their parking lot for the purpose of participating in this cruise.  The front row is reserved for Lincolns parking off Fort Street, "the point" or in the used car area. Spots are on a first come basis. As a matter of fact, spots can be claimed Friday evening and left overnight. If you have any questions, call Mark Sitko at: (313) 386-3044.  Bring your classic Lincoln and plan on staying as long as possible. The dealership is located at 16800 Fort street on the west (southbound) side of the road south of Eureka.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

The 10th annual Cruisin' Downriver will begin at 10 a.m. June 27, 2009 and cruise through the cities of Lincoln Park, Riverview, Southgate, and Wyandotte.

More than 500,000 car buffs and enthusiasts are expected to line Fort Street in hope of getting a sneak peek at their dream car. There is no registration fee for the cruise itself. Preferred access to the cruise route is Southfield Freeway, but other access will be permitted.

Each city on the route will enforce a strict code of conduct to ensure public safety; speeding, drag racing, hole shots or laying rubber will not be tolerated. Violators will be ticketed and removed from the cruise.

Unless otherwise marked, the two curb lanes of northbound and southbound Fort Street will be designated for the cruise. Since Fort Street will remain open for other traffic, the traffic signals will remain operational and must be observed by all.
